Touch marketing can be a very effective form of communication for your clients and prospects as well. In marketing, we refer to “touches” as those times that we reach out to clients and prospects to simply say “we care” or “we’re still here”. Here are three simple, yet very effective touch marketing techniques.
- Birthday and Anniversary Cards – Consider using your CRM system to send birthday and anniversary cards to your clients. Handwritten cards are statistically proven more effective than mass-mailed cards from sites like SendOutCards.com that attempt to mimic the personalized effect. Hand write them a special message and pass the card around to your staff to have them sign.
- Make an Unscheduled Phone Call – This is one of the most effective touch marketing techniques that we encourage our clients to institute. Make the call to say hello but remember that time is precious and this is an unplanned call, so keep it short and sweet unless they’re willing to talk. If they have more than a few moments to catch up, ask them about the service they’ve been receiving from your company. This is also an effective way to gather both positive and negative feedback about your company’s service. Again, the concept here is “I was just calling to say hello and check in to see how you’re doing”.
- Cater to Their Hobbies – For your largest clients consider sending them a gift card for one of their favorite hobbies. Maybe they like to golf. A round of golf on you is a good way to say “we care” and “have fun”! Maybe they like wine and art. A gift card to Painting with a Twist (www.paintingwithatwist.com) for them and their spouse will provide for a great night on the town. Find your client’s hobbies and think outside the box!
