The old adage that “the customer is always right” is often wrong. It may be shocking to read, but it’s true. We’re all customers of some sort. We make a multitude of transactions every day with businesses and sometimes we make mistakes. We buy groceries, stop at gas stations, pick up a cup of coffee at Starbucks, buy clothing at department stores, sign the occasional contract or service agreement, and so on.
It’s our job as marketers to protect the customer/client from others and from themselves. One bad interaction with your business can set off a word-of-mouth wildfire that does extensive harm to you, your employees, and your brand.
Read more about word-of-mouth wildfire in Senior Market Advisor magazine, where Shout Out LLC Founder Brooks Brown, writes extensively about the topic. Read the full article, published in 2011 here.
